Our philosophy is that cooking and eating should feed the soul as well as the body, that buying and eating local not only supports the community in many ways, but offers the highest quality, healthiest product. We source most of our ingredients from local farmers and creameries and use as many local purveyors as possible. The promise we make to our customers is to provide them with the freshest ingredients that are seasonably available and do so by purchasing locally whenever possible. By respecting the entire farm to table process, we respect the producers’ pride in their food and our environment, and we use it with care.
Since opening our doors in 2005, Mohawk House has been the opportunity to put together a restaurant that would be the culmination of a warm inviting atmosphere, a historic and visually appealing setting, seamless service, outstanding wine, exceptional craft beer, and most importantly… beautiful food. We imagined a casual yet professional staff with food made from scratch and as close to the source as possible.
We have been committed to protecting the environment and we are always striving to make improvements to lessen our impact. We encourage others to join us in conserving our natural resources, reducing waste generation and the use of toxic materials, recycling, purchasing recycled products and pollution prevention.
After receiving numerous accolades, we’ve evolved into a special gathering place as Sparta’s cornerstone, and an area destination. Our goal is to provide a true elegant country dining experience and showcase the region’s most vibrant foods.
